Standard

It is going to be an exciting day!  My weight is dropping and I get to get out of the house today.  I have been cooped up with the snow and cold and work, so I am excited to go meet a friend for coffee and lunch.

WEIGHT ~~ +9.4 (I do not expect to lose it all in 3 weeks)

ENERGY ~~ 😀

EXCITEMENT ~~ 😀

MOOD ~~ 😀

TIP: Prepare well for a meal out.  Know the calorie count of meals and the protein/carb/fat ratio of prepared meals at restaurants.  There are apps (like Lose It!) that can help you out, websites, and often the restaurant menu will tell you.  But know ahead of time what you are allowed so you don’t go in and get excited by something that will throw your plan off base.

For breakfast I had oatmeal with apples.

My morning snack was 1/2 cup blackberries.

We ate lunch at Chilis.  I had the salmon.  My app told me what I needed to know.  The caloric count was higher than a normal meal for me, and I forgot to ask for fruit.  There was a lot of sodium in the meal as well.

My afternoon snack was 1/2 cup raspberries.

Dinner was a turkey patty, 1/2 cup cooked brown rice, 2 cups brocolli, and 1/2 cup blackberries.

I did my Just Dance for just a half an hour.  I didn’t meet my daily goal, but at least I did something.

I deferred my exercises until tomorrow, and I skipped the bath.  My day out included 4 hours of driving, so I was exhausted and short on time.

It was a great day.

I slept pretty well.

  1. No sugar. 👍
  2. No salt. I ate lunch out.
  3. No alcohol. 👍
  4. No dairy 👍- this is a personal requirement.  Milk products seem to be upsetting my stomach lately.  Yes, this means no lattes!
  5. Drink at least 64 ounces (preferably 80 ounces) of water per day. 👍
  6. Eat 5 times per day. 👍 (Meal plan suggestion here.)
  7. Cheat occasionally!  It’s okay to cheat every now and again, just don’t do it daily. 😉 👍
  8. Take my supplements religiously. 👍
  9. Drink green tea daily. 👍
  10. Meditate for at least 10 minutes per day.
  11. Do 20 minutes of yoga poses per day.
  12. Do 30 minutes of easy aerobic exercise 5x per week – Just Dance video game, stationary bike, simple video… 👍

Standard

I woke up refreshed and excited, especially since the scale is moving downwards.  I know, I know… I’ve said it myself.  It’s not all about the number, but it is the easiest way to assess results quickly.

TIP: Eat dessert first.  Your fruit, that is.  It is widely documented and researched that fruit is best digested on an empty stomach.  Try it.

For breakfast I had oatmeal with apples.

My morning snack was 1/2 cup blackberries.

My lunch was a ground turkey patty with garlic and green onions, brown rice, 2 cups of broccoli and 1/2 cup of blackberries.

My afternoon snack was 1/2 cup blackberries (they are on sale).

Dinner was another turkey patty, 1/2 cup cooked brown rice, 2 cups brocolli, and 1/2 cup blackberries.

I did my Just Dance for an hour.  I found a speed mode which switched songs quickly, so I did my assigned exercises after.  This function, though, did not tell me when I met my daily goal.  So I went way over – but that’s okay.  It felt good.

I took a bath, did a coconut oil and egg hair mask and a banana honey face mask.  My feet got a good massage and a foot mask.

I did yoga about an hour after my bath.  Good sleep intended poses.

It was a good day.

I slept very well.

TIP: Keep a food diary.  Write down everything you eat and the caloric count.  This keeps you more aware of what you are putting in and helps you be more conscientious of your food choices.

For breakfast I had quinoa with apples.

My morning snack was 1/2 cup berries.

My lunch was a ground turkey patty with garlic and green onions, brown rice, 2 cups of broccoli and a tomato and avocado salad plus 1/2 cup strawberries, sliced.

My afternoon snack was 1/2 a banana.

Dinner was another turkey patty, 1/2 cup cooked brown rice, 2 cups brocolli, and 1/2 cup berries.

I did my exercises in the afternoon.  I completed about an hour of Just Dance on my Wii. I didn’t meet my daily goal on the machine because the play list and songs I kept choosing were slow…  It was a rest day for squats and arms, so I did my crunches afterwards.

I skipped the bath again tonight. It’s really too cold here and my bathroom with a tub is near the exterior of my home… Plus, I had a busy day and was exhausted.

This morning I ventured out in the cold, frigid air to the doctors for a check up on my foot.  All is good!  Proceed with caution, but exercise got an all clear.

This has me excited to try more, the stationary bike, once the weather warms up a smidge.  Staying in is all really anyone should do right now!

I did order a couple of new Just Dance games.  They were in my mailbox this morning.  I got them off of eBay – 2 for the price of half of a new one.  They are used.  I got Just Dance 3, and it came with Kidz Bop.  I am excited to give it a go this afternoon.  The other discs I have are getting stale.  This may give me some extra excitement and I may be able to work out a little more.

TIP: Prepare your meals ahead of time.  This isn’t something I really have to do, as I work from home.  But, if I worked at an office, it would be easy to make this meal plan ahead of time.  It can all be eaten cold, or warmed up when you are ready to eat.  Preparing your meals ahead of time will also help you keep your portions measured out appropriately.  In fact, I often do cook my chicken or turkey all at once and store it in the fridge, pulling out one portion size for each meal.

My morning snack was 1/2 cup berries.

My lunch was especially delicious today.  I made ground turkey in olive oil with garlic & pepper, 2 cups of kale, 1 cup of mushrooms and a tomato.  I layered that over 1/2 cup cooked brown rice.  I also had 1/2 cup strawberries, sliced.

My afternoon snack was 1/2 cup berries.

Dinner was left-over turkey breast, 1/2 cup cooked brown rice, asparagus, and 1/2 cup berries.

I did my exercises in the afternoon.  I completed a 40 minutes of Just Dance on my Wii with my new Just Dance 3. Loved it! I did the assigned exercises from the challenges in the list in between songs.

I skipped the bath tonight because it is freezing.  And I am out of Epsom salts and forgot to get some when I was out this morning.  Too cold to go back out!

I did some yoga before bed.

When I weighed myself this morning, I was very disappointed.  I was back to where I started, +12.  I feel dejected, like I am losing.

But it’s not always about the number on the scale.  A lot of this is about cleansing yourself.  I am feeling better, more energized, and my skin looks better.  So some accomplishment has occurred!

I also know my cardio isn’t as strong as it should be for me.  But I don’t have clearance yet to really start working out, and I know physically it would be a struggle.  I have a dr appointment tomorrow, maybe I can get the all clear to ride the stationary bike.  That may add some more intense cardio – though not as fun as my Wii dancing!

And, as I have lost a lot of muscle after surgery, I may be putting some of it back on.  In fact, my thighs feel stronger and tighter.  I should have measured myself and went off of inches instead of pounds!

TIP: Chew slowly.  Eat slowly.  Don’t shovel all your food in at once.  Take the time to chew each small piece thoroughly. Savor each bite, and stop when you are full.

My afternoon snack was 1/2 cup berries.

Dinner was left-over turkey, 1/2 cup cooked brown rice, asparagus, and 1/2 cup berries.

I did my exercises in the afternoon.  I completed a 30 minutes of Just Dance on my Wii. I did the assigned exercises from the challenges in the list in between songs.

After dinner I took my bath and gave myself a foot massage and a foot mask after my shower.

I did a coconut oil and egg hair mask (made my hair thicker and gave it a great natural curl). The mask was 6 tablespoons of liquid coconut oil and 3 eggs. I have a lot of hair and this was more than enough.

I did a face mask of mashed banana and honey. This was great for my skin! It was softer and it pulled out a lot of blackheads. I mashed one banana and added honey to match. This was way too much for one use. I warmed it in the microwave briefly before applying.

I neglected to do my yoga or have green tea today. Oops!

I indulged with my dinner last night.  I tried not to, but I did!  These things will happen.

I woke up feeling pretty good.

TIP: Add beauty to your refresh routine.  The winter has been harsh on my skin, and I don’t naturally exfoliate well.  So, I have had a lot of blemishes lately.  Cleansing my diet has helped that and I can already tell my skin looks better.  It did from the first day – likely from the water and green tea and not so much soda.  Adding the baths, face and hair masks, foot massages, etc. to this challenge plan has really made it more of “refreshing me” rather than just cleansing my body.  It keeps me engaged – because after the year and a half I just had, I want to look better.

I had oatmeal with apples for breakfast.

My morning snack was half a banana.

For lunch, I made an approximately 4 oz of ground turkey patty with garlic and green onions..  I had 1/2 cup cooked brown rice, about 2 cups of kale with mushrooms, tomatoes and garlic, and 1/2 cup of berries.

My afternoon snack was a small apple.

I baked a turkey breast for dinner.  It was big enough to have 5 four ounce pieces for left overs  for the next few days. I had 1/2 cup cooked quinoa, 10 pieces of asparagus, and 1/2 cup strawberries.

I did my exercises in the afternoon.  I completed a 45 minutes of Just Dance on my Wii. I did the assigned exercises from the challenges in the list in between songs.

After dinner I took my bath and gave myself a foot massage and a foot mask.  I had every intention of doing a hair and face mask, but I didn’t want to take a shower after and do all the clean up.  lazy, I know!

About an hour after my bath, I did some yoga poses aimed for deep sleep.
